Little one is nearly 3 months old already. Everything seems to be on course for a bright, developing little girl.
Developments:
- She is probably in the 13 lbs. range, which means she has doubled her birth weight.
- She gets scared by loud noises, which means she hears OK and her CNS has developed.
- She laughs a kind of baby hiccup, and gets excited when papa tickles her belly.
- She has a charming smirk when mom is mad at her for not eating or sleeping.
- She has a wide open, full mouth smile after she has napped and fed well and all is right in the world.
- She cries and fusses at 5pm when she is tired and hungry, but I guess that is nothing new.
- She can spend some alone time, amusing herself with her Red Roo and Sunny and Ladybug beneath the canopied arch of her play station. She actually cracks herself up.
- She is always moving. Always. Legs kicking wildly. Arms grabbing at stuff – she has figured out how to reach and hit the Red Dog in her swing with a little balled fist. She reaches out to touch papas face, and mamas chest.
- Yet sometimes, just before sleep, she spaces out and sits quietly, rubbing her legs together gently (like papa does) cause she’s so comfortable and focuses on some faraway thing with a beatific smile on her face. She looks like she is thinking about water skiing. Peeling a large wall of water out of the lake with a slalom ski. That or gardening with papa. It’s early morning, mid summer. The dew is still on the purple flowered yarrow. She is pulling a dandelion from the moist dirt beneath the cedar mulch…
