Sunday night here again and we’ve had another bang-up weekend. We’re a month out now from jr’s due date, and there is a sense of countdown. The pace of projects is picking up, and the iris are poking up in the back gardens.

On Saturday Meg’s best friend Tia threw her not a baby shower, but a baby downpour. From all reports, it was a beautiful affair. (Photos and a full report coming from Meg later this week.) The weather was great, and a bunch of Meg’s friends and family got together to celebrate her and the baby.

So the men folk, on Saturday, put the kitchen together proper. We installed a new cabinet and countertop unit. It looks marvelous, and our kitchen is nearly finished. Many thanks to Lowell for his mastery.

After the shower the ladies returned and we had our first pic-nik of the year on the back patio. We celebrated Alina’s birthday with carrot cake and beer.

Sunday morning Meg and I went for a hike in the first spring rain through the bog nearby. We wore rubber boots and got muddy. It smelled like earth again outside.

The Past Week in Numbers and Stats:

  • Measurements: 41.5 inches at the belly
  • Movement: major. The kid is apparently a break dancer.
  • Sleep: Mw is awake many times throughout the night. Making her way to the baƱo, drinking water, wrestling with her body pillow, getting sore hips, flopping around, grunting, snoring (a little bit) and just generally not her normal comfortable sleeper self. But when she does eventually go down, she goes down hard.
  • Mood, appetite, everything else holding pretty steady. No weird food cravings. Pretty much repeat of the past few weeks (months?).
