24 Weeks We marked a major milestone in the life of our daughter tonight: food. She has officially graduated from boob school, and moved on to a new hybrid lifestyle which includes rice cereal as well as mother’s milk. Five months has brought about a whole host of changes in our girl. She has slept through the night a few times, she has developed new mouth sounds – a kind of a lip vibrating bbbrrrrrrrr sound – she is reaching and grabbing for things, has developed a heck of a grip, rolls over at will and would rather be on her belly most times. She has chubbed up pretty good too, probably tipping the scales at 16lbs. at this point in time.

To give the occasion due credit, we made a movie out of it. Enjoy…

Brunch with Buddies

Sundays were made for brunch. Especially when said brunch is chez good buddies whom you have not seen for awhile, and who make good food. Really good food. Try “Dutch Baby” for example – a soufflĂ© type deal topped with fresh whipped cream, berries and peaches. Or perhaps try the fried potatoes and eggplant, with all the requisite herbs and garlic, topped with grated cheese and a salsa fresca of tomatoes, onion and avocado. Dare I mention the freshly squeezed orange, clementine, and grapefruit juice? And then, freshly baked banana white chocolate walnut muffins, hot enough for butter melting. And then coffee. Something good and dark. And then, the topper, after we were all full, and a little high from the decadence, came the fresh fried farm bacon. Thick meaty slices of salty porcine pleasure. We chewed on it and thought the pigs must have been happy.

Such is a Sunday brunch at the house of Karen and Nate Solas. One should be so lucky.
